Facebook Bootcamp by Angela Allmond Rocked!
I attended “Facebook Bootcamp” in Oklahoma City today. The presenter was Angela Allmond from Allographics. Angela is a very interesting and organized speaker. She did an excellent job presenting the information in a concise manner for anyone whether they were a beginner in facebook marketing or more advanced. She also did a great job with presenting her information in the allotted timeframe while answering questions from the attendees as she went along. Although this particular event was referred to as “bootcamp,” it was a most pleasurable and informative event.
Sometimes you attend a “class” like this one expecting great information and all you get is a sales pitch. Rest assured, this was not the case with Angela Allmond’s “Facebook Bootcamp.”
I consider myself at about an intermediate level when it comes to Facebook usage. I would have to say I advanced a few degrees on the Facebook usage meter today! I am going to give you a couple of take-aways, but don’t want to reveal everything and ruin your opportunity to learn from Angela herself in the upcoming Facebook for Business Webinar. More about that later.
Take-Aways:
- I knew the new modification on the formerly known facebook fan pages (now business pages) allowed for more of a separate business identity, but had no idea as to the extent. Did you know your business page now operates as its own entity and you even have a newsfeed specifically for other business pages you have liked as your business identity? Angela showed us all the ins and outs of utilizing the new tools to market your business brand with class.
- I had no idea that the photos at the top of a business page can only be modified by an admin on the business page. If a fan tags you in a photo, it does not show up in the photo feed at the top of your page like it does on your personal page. Another difference is that the photos on your personal page do not rotate when users click on your page, but the photos on your business page do rotate.
- Other additions to the new Facebook pages include a “friend” alert and a “notification” alert just like personal pages.
That is only a very, very small snippet of what we learned today! There are strategies involved with just about everything Angela taught today. You can utilize the information to engage your users more, build your fan base and market your business as well as other businesses.
If you want to learn about how to effectively utilize facebook for your business, I have great news for you! You can attend this class and you won’t even have to hire a sitter or commute to Oklahoma City. Hey… you can even attend in your PJ’s! This is because Angela will be presenting a “Facebook for Business 101” webinar on April 21, 2011 at 11am Central.
